The book Katz On Dogs is loaded with great tips for dog owners. It’s one of the first dog training books I bought when I got my third dog as a puppy.
The author, Jon Katz, is definitely someone who’s been there, done that! He’s speaking from experience.

I can’t believe I actually took the time to do this, but I did. So I’ll share it here.
And I encourage you to try to make a list of the words your dog knows as well as the commands your dog understands.

I decided 20 years ago when my first dog was a puppy that I was going to use treats as rewards (or motivators) when training my dog.
This is something that I’ve had great success with, and I continued using treats as rewards with the next 2 dogs I raised from puppyhood as well.
My 3 dogs (2 Lab mixes and 1 American Eskimo) have always been relatively easy to train, and they tend to mind quite well. I think using treats with training definitely helped with that.
